Airways undertook the procurement of HF equipment for the lifecycle replacement of existing assets near Auckland Airport. This includes delivery of a 36m TCI-570-1-28 Dual Mode antenna, intended to replace two existing antennas at Airways’ transmitter site, Wiroa Island, near Auckland International Airport.
The Wairoa Island work consisted of dismantling two existing 120’ masts. The application of a building consent, geotech report, civil foundation design, fabrication and installation, trenching and feeder running, mast erection and tensioning and the installation of a 160’ aerial. Site acceptance testing including mechanical inspection, antenna performance measurements and cable loss measurements.
There were additional works for a receive antenna at Airways Seagrove site. The work consisted of dismantling two existing 120’ masts. Geotech inspection, stay attachment design, and installation, trenching and feeder running, mast erection and tensioning. Site acceptance testing including mechanical inspection, antenna performance measurements and cable loss measurements.
Being at an Airport, the health, safety and security aspects of the project were extremely stringent. Infratel has the processes in place to be able to complete the project to the highest standards with a minimum of fuss.
Although there were many demands set, the project was completed within time and budget.
