Auckland central tower repairs overview
Repair work consisted in most cases in removal of surface rust and treating and painting the affected area. In other areas extra steel was required to be welded onto the tower due to cross sectional steel loss. This wielding required a certified welder with a head for heights, due to the requirement to undertake the welding whilst supported by ropes. Once the repair work was completed the entire tower needed to be corrosion protected and repainted.
